2015 is here and it's starting off with a bang!

Goodbye 2014 and Hello 2015!  We are here and thriving - last year we had the privilege of working with a lot of new clients and were happy to reconnect with familiar home owners we enjoy as well! 

We were sad to say goodbye to one of our favorite techs who left the island, but happy to welcome some new team mates who are doing an awesome job making our clients rave.  We're so fortunate to have techs who care and who have developed the skill to make our work shine, and the eye to keep our results at such a high levels.  We get frequent feedback from our clients who love our guys and their work.

Our favorite part of this business is still capturing the before and afters that make our customers happy.  Although Lisa has had her hands too full lately to blog example projects, we're starting to get a stock pile of pictures just waiting to be shared.

Stone Floor Deep Clean and Seal

Natural Stone Floors are porous and require on-going maintenance to preserve their beauty and integrity. The National Association of Home Builders expect natural stone, particularly granite, marble and slate to last approximately 100 years with proper maintenance.

Granite Counters - What kind of care?

One of the best things you can do for your granite countertop is getting a professional grade sealer applied.

Granite counters are acid resistant, dense and durable. In our stone care experience, they are the best choice for kitchen counters for these reasons.

What are the things to watch out for?

Your Installer or Contractor probably put a medium to high grade sealer on the counters when it was installed. Ask what the product is and how long it is expected to last.

Within two years of installation, many Granite Counter Owners will opt to have a polish and reseal or at least a clean and reseal. The reason is this, if your sealer fails, oil can be literally sucked into the millions of microscopic pores and capillaries of granite and leave an oil stain that may not be removable. This is the most common type of granite damage besides spalling. One greasy jar of cooking oil left on the counter overnight could be a very expensive mistake. Regular resealing will prevent this type of damage to the countertops.

If your counter top darkens when a wet cloth sits on the surface for a couple hours, get it resealed right away.  The granite is susceptible to oil and water based staining.

What else can I do to help my granite last longer and look better?

The water in Maui leaves quite a bit of scaly white deposits around faucets. This can be removed and the sink edges sealed at the same time. Eurotech Maui offers an affordable maintenance program that includes an annual inspection, bead test, deposit (white stains) removal at the faucets and resealing of the 4" around the sink edge.

Travertine - Marble - Granite Polishing Before and After

We arrived to the Kaanapali, Maui, Hawaii luxury villa in the morning. The travertine countertops in the master and guest bathrooms had a mild to moderate amount of wear and tear. Lance performed a 3 step deep cleaning, polish and reseal to remove the water deposits and light etching and wear on the travertine surface. Bathroom and kitchen counters often have waterspotting and calcium buildup around the faucets and sink edges.

This photo above shows the before and after of the polishing. The travertine was already cleaned and prepared. The left is before polishing and the right is after the polishing. Notice the detail in the reflection of the light fixture comparing the unpolished left side to the polished right side.

Most clients opt to deep clean and reseal for protection. It removes all the buildup that won't come out with daily cleaning. And once the surface is cleaned and prepared, it can be resealed to protect and preserve the life of the natural stone.

This particular client opted for a high polish finish, that added another step to the process. It looked shiny and new when the clean, polish and sealing were complete.

Marble Fills Luxury Villa Maui, Hawaii

It was a beautiful day with kitesurfers flying by outside the large picture windows from this oceanfront luxury villa in Maui, Hawaii. The villa was purchased with the existing beige marble tiled floors. Pencil eraser sized holes started appearing throughout the flooring over time and the Owner asked if we could replace the marble tiles with his extra pieces. Once we started counting up the number of holes in the tiles, they numbered over 35. So, as a cost effective remedy, we offered him the option of filling the holes instead of replacing the tiles.

Lance was able to fill the holes in an afternoon successfully and buff the finish back to get it even. Some issues were identified with loose tiles that will likely have to be replaced in the future.

Needless to say our client was happy with the work, the appearance and the safety of the floor was greatly improved and we called it a day.
